What have we been up-to?

20/08/2019 Update

Whetstone CLCGB Band

Whetstone CLCGB Band has been busy over the past few weeks with rehearsals, a charity gala and parade.

On Saturday 22nd June we played at West Gate School Family Festival to help raise money for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. The sun was shining brightly and there were lots of activities, stalls, food, drink and entertainment. Over £2000 was raised and a great day had by all.

Saturday 6th July saw Whetstone CLCG Band lead the Countesthorpe Scout Gala Parade to help raise money for essential roof repairs for their hut. We also played in the arena but the weather was not kind to us. Luckily, we had our gazebo to protect us and despite the weather there was a good turnout and they raised £1383.30.

Whetstone CLCGB Youth Group

We have enjoyed lots of fun activities in all sections aged 5-21 years. We have taken advantage of the lovely summer weather and been out and about playing at the park, a village challenge, Croft Hill hike and camp craft. We have had trips out to swimming, trampolining and ice skating. Indoors we have been playing pool, cooking and baking and had a movie night.

For the last meet up before summer we had a BBQ and played water games. There was lots of food, fun, laughter and water! Everyone had a great night.

We are very excited for our annual company camp on the August bank holiday weekend. We are going to have lots of exciting activities like pot holing, abseiling, swimming, a bouncy castle, woodland activities, orienteering, camp craft skills and much more.

Our youth group has now closed for the summer and we will return on Friday 30th August.
